Downswing Tip: "Start your downswing from the ground up!" is preached by Butch Harmon, and I cannot agree more. What does it mean? It means that many player’s first move on the down swing is to move their hands downward, which usually gets the club going on an out-to-in swing path; not a good thing. Your swing begins by taking the club back with your hands, then your shoulders and finally your hips. Your downswing should fire in the opposite way, hips, shoulders and then hands. This will enable you to get the club in the slot or on plane. There might be 150 different types of swings on the PGA Tour, but one thing is certain - ALL of the swings have a downswing that starts with a bump of the left hip.
